The ToughSteel project has been presented in the 8th International Conference on Hot Sheet Metal Forming of High-Performance Steel (CHS2), which has taken place in the World Trade Center of Barcelona from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June 2022.
The conference was participated by partners from Eurecat David Frómeta -ToughSteel coordinator-, Sergi Parareda, Jaume Pujante, , Eduard García, Daniel Casellas, Laura Grifé, and Ilef Tarhouni.
They presented three papers related to fracture toughness research and case studies: “Influence of laser tempering on fracture toughness of press hardened steels correlation with components crash”, within the session “Failure Mechanism”; “An innovative rapid procedure for fracture toughness characterization of advanced high strength steels and press hardened steels”, within the session “Parts Performance I” and “Essential work of fracture method for toughness evaluation of thick press hardened 22MnB5 plate”, within the session “Thick sheets”. The papers presented will be accessible as conference proceedings.
In addition, the rollup of the ToughSteel project was displayed in Eurecat’s booth in the facilities and our trifold was handed to attendees.
The CHS2 conference has been organised by Eurecat, ToughSteel coordinator entity, along with partner Luleå University of Technology and the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). It has hosted 90 presentations at national and international level, addressing the challenges and opportunities generated in the transformation of new steels and aluminium through hot stamping technologies, innovative solutions to increase the efficiency of the process, advanced techniques characterisation to reduce the development time of new solutions and new numerical simulation methodologies.
